FAQs
Course Fees
The course fee is either £850 or £1,250 based upon means and is fully inclusive of food and all tuition fees. There is one bursary place available in each cohort. We also offer a 10-month payment plan upon request.
Once your place is confirmed, you will have seven days to pay a deposit of £300. The remaining course fees will only be refunded if cancelled six weeks in advance. If using PayPal, please include the transfer fees in your payment. We also offer one bursary place per course and a 10-month payment plan upon request. Please contact us for more information.
Which tier do I pay?
We ask participants to choose their tier based upon their means. We offer two tiers to ensure the course is accessible to everyone and we trust that participants will choose theirs in good faith.
Do I have to be an artist?
We believe that everyone is an artist.
What’s included?
The fee covers all course activities, home cooked lunches and dinners at Siân's house, the Saturday guest session with award winning poets/artists, swimming in the River Dart, and other treats along the way. The only things not included are travel and accommodation.
Food
We love to eat. Food is what binds us during the course. Breakfast will be served at the White Hart pub. Lunch and dinner will consist of organic, local food made by Siân and her son Joseph. Wine is not provided (see above). Please notify us of any dietary requirements well in advance.
Accomodation
We have reserved accommodation for the entire course. Once you confirm your place, we will send you a selection of accommodation options on the historic Dartington Estate and Gardens located just a two-minute walk from both the workshop space and Siân’s house. A range of price options will be available. The rooms (private) in the hotel range between £52 - £85 per night inclusive of full breakfast.
What kind of things should I bring?
A sense of humour and an open mind are always welcome. Please also bring waterproofs, wellies or walking shoes for the night walk, swimwear, and a towel. We also suggest bringing slider/flip flops, warm slippers, loose comfortable clothing, and a notebook. We provide blankets for everyone throughout the duration of the course and neoprene gloves and boots for those that need them to swim.
What time does the course begin and finish?
The course begins promptly at 4:30 PM on the first day with greetings, food, and wine at Siân’s house. It ends Sunday at 12 noon.
How do I get here?
Please see the location page.
Communication
We will set up a WhatsApp group with participants two weeks before the course begins. We encourage everyone to share travel plans in advance, and to offer rides if driving. If arriving by train, please use the group to book taxis travelling from Totnes to Dartington Estate together. The group is a place to share information and help each other out.
